Shikarpur Imambargah blast: Live Updates

At least twenty people were killed and 50 others injured in an explosion at an imambargah in Shikarpur on Friday.

As per initial Agencies live reports, the blast occurred during Friday prayers at Karbala Maula Imambargah in Lakhi Dar area.


According to an eyewitness, a suicide bomber allegedly blew himself up during Friday prayers.

“At least 100 people were present inside the imambargah at the time of the blast,” the eyewitness added.



Owing to a shortage of doctors in Shikarpur, medical teams have been sent from Sukkur and Jacobabad.


Sindh provincial health minister Jam Mehtab said “at least 20 people have been killed and more than 40 injured”.
As many as 17 people have been dead and more than 52 people are injured in a blast near Shikarpur Imam Bargah during Friday prayers.

According to local media reports, the blast occurred during Friday prayers near Karbala Maula Imambargah in Lakhi Dar area. Scores of worshipers were present inside for prayers during the time of the blast.

Police said that blast occurred near an Imam Bargha after Friday prayers. Rescue teams and security officials have reached the spot.

According to MS Civil Hospital Shikarpur, over 50 people have also been injured in the huge blast that was reportedly heard several kilometers away. Children are also reportedly among the dead as well as injured.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif condemned the blast and ordered an immediate inquiry. Former President Asif Ali Zardari, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain and PTI chairman Imran Khan has also condemned the blast.
